Claiming our culture
On the Sunday of the Urretxu festivities, the Basque holiday is celebrated, and different activities are organized throughout the day. The biggest event of the day is the huge parade of chariots in the afternoon. Different gangs or groups of people create chariots, always with the intention of claiming something.

It is the organization of international folklore festivals and consists of about thirty festivals spread throughout the geography of the State. It was formed in November 1988.

Beer Festival
Connection
It’s the biggest event we have every year in October. In 2004, the group felt the need to do something different, to make another kind of connection with the citizens and in order, to have a source of income.

Dancing in the town square
Year after year, we have many traditions, and one of them is the boast of whistling. In particular, we have our own dances at the txistu concerts that are held every year in both villages, and we are spreading them at the popular level.

St. John
Fire and dance
On the eve of St. John, according to the tradition of the Basque Country, as in many villages, in Urretxu a fire is lit in the square of the Gernika tree. For many years a kind of “coven” is depicted and the villagers dance around the fire.

Dressing the farms with color
In Urretxu there are many villagers who live on farms a little further from the village. A few years ago, the dancers of Lurra Dantza Taldea decided to take the prunes to the farms, so every year we learn carnival dances from different villages in the Basque Country, disguise them, and in the morning we go from farm to village dancing.
